Temporary closure of Hotel Barcelona for extension and refurbishment works:

We would like to confirm that the Hotel Barcelona, Exeter, will be closing temporarily from 19 December 2008 for a period of 12 months. This is to enable extensive refurbishment and extension work to be carried out on the site following a successful planning application made earlier this year.

We would like to assure all our guests that any bookings for stays prior to 19 December will not be affected as the hotel will be running as normal until this date. Any guests who have made bookings for stays or events after the 19th December will have been notified of the closure.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your custom, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel when we reopen.

General Manager

Alias Hotel Barcelona re-invents the hotel experience.
Prepare to be surprised! Built as an eye infirmary back in the 19th century the outside of the hotel keeps hidden the delights that will surround you as you step inside.

Space and light fill the hotel. 50's and 60's furniture and art sit side by side with original features from the Victorian era. But this hotel is truly about people, you and us!
The Bedrooms
Our bedrooms (and bathrooms!) are stylish and luxurious - the perfect peaceful retreat in which you can relax and escape, both day and night.

A feast of beautiful and original design classics - Alias Hotel Barcelona's public rooms are the place to socialise or just while away the hours.

"Quite simply one of the hippest hotels in Britain" - Lonely Planet 2005

Devon Today Nov 05 - "With this much love and care going into the food, one can only imagine what will be coming to a dinner table near you."

The Saturday Times Sept 05 - "Full marks to Archambault (head chef. His...)approach is typical of a movement that...include(s)local food and traceability on menus. In fact, he places daily orders for the restaurant in person with a fishmonger, a deli, a baker and a butcher, based at a parade of shops on his way to work. Now that's what you call local."
